Abstrak

This study explores legal certainty and consumer protection in the non-financial sharia sector through halal certification and product labeling in Indonesia. Indonesia, which has a Muslim population of 87.2% of its total population, has great potential in the halal economy and ranks third globally in the halal industry after Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. However, this progress faces serious challenges in the implementation of halal certification, which affects legal certainty for businesses and the protection of Muslim consumers. These issues include unclear procedures, uncertain policies, minimal supervision, and differences in understanding between certification bodies and businesses. This study applies a normative juridical method with a literature review approach to relevant regulations such as Law Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee, Government Regulation Number 42 of 2024, and an analysis of halal certification implementation in the culinary, cosmetics, halal tourism, and logistics sectors.
