This study examines local political dynamics arising from environmental impacts of PT. Basin Coal Mining's coal operations in Taja Indah Village, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, Indonesia, where mining since 2023 has destroyed 40 hectares of rubber plantations, causing air pollution, water contamination, and mud floods that reduced rubber yields by 50% for 70 affected households. The research aims to analyze power relations and conflicts using political ecology framework. Employing a qualitative case study design with purposive sampling, the population comprises 3,835 villagers, focusing on 15 key informants including village head, company representatives, community leaders, and activists. Primary data from semi-structured interviews, three-month participant observation, and secondary sources like CSR reports were analyzed via Miles and Huberman's thematic coding, GIS mapping, and NVivo 12 triangulation. Findings reveal asymmetric power favoring the company through CSR benefits like job absorption for 30% locals, yet escalating polarization (75% environmentalists vs. pro-economy groups) and protests due to failed village mediation. In conclusion, resource curse manifests in social injustice, recommending tripartite GIS-based mediation models.
