Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic forced Indonesian higher education to adopt online learning, significantly impacting student motivation at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta's Faculty of Law. This study aims to analyze the effects of online learning on student learning motivation and develop effective strategies. Employing a normative juridical-empirical approach through qualitative descriptive library research, the population comprised all Faculty of Law students during 2020-2022, with purposive sampling of 20-30 representative secondary documents. Instruments included educational policy documents and peer-reviewed journals, analyzed via qualitative content analysis with data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing using NVivo software. Findings reveal dual impacts: negative effects from infrastructure limitations, reduced social interaction, and excessive assignments lowered motivation, while flexibility fostered independence and intrinsic motivation among adaptive students. Conclusions recommend interactive platforms, varied media, balanced workloads, psychosocial support, and recognition to sustain hybrid learning effectiveness post-pandemic.
